The Becket and Co. Story
James B. Strohacker, President of Becket and Co., aboard a Grand Banks Eastbay 55
Becket and Co. offers full-service, premier yacht management services to yacht owners along the Eastern seaboard from coastal Maine to Key Largo, Florida. We currently manage 30 yachts including power boats built by Hinckley®, Hunt®, Eastbay®, Grand Banks®, Little Harbor Whisper Jets®, Westport® and other luxury yachts.
James B. Strohacker founded Becket and Co. in May 2009, creating an organization of certified professional yacht managers dedicated to representing yacht owners as a true advocate and partner.
Strohacker spent much of his youth on the water, running lobster yachts and sailing along the shores of coastal Maine. While a student at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, he apprenticed at renowned wooden boat builder Richard Pulsifer’s shop, working on 15 boats and building two boats of his own. After three years working alongside Pulsifer, Strohacker possessed a solid understanding of naval architecture, but also a strong appreciation for Pulsifer’s commitment to detail and craftsmanship. These are the key tenets from which Becket and Co. operates.
In 2004, Strohacker joined The Hinckley Company® as manager of the demonstrator fleet. He went on to be senior trainer in Hinckley’s new owner orientation program as well as sales event yacht manager. Strohacker educated and trained hundreds of new Hinckley jet boat owners, teaching them how to operate and maintain their boats. Strohacker also spent thousands of hours running boats, providing vital feedback on new products, coordinating service, engineering, and production departments to meet customer needs and expectations. These experiences, coupled with an MBA from Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts, provide the foundation upon which Becket and Co. is built.
